US CONSIDERS SAUDI INITIATIVE

Last Thursday Prince Abdullah, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, was the guest of honor at President Bush's Crawford Texas ranch. They enjoyed hearty Texan cuisine and then with Bush at the wheel and Abdullah riding shotgun they headed off into the sunset for a pickup truck tour of the sprawling ranch. As agreed there was no news crews to cover the story. The President's mood was obviously of a conciliatory nature. And Bush's signature 'bonding' was reported to have taken place between the two leaders.
Abdullah presented his revised initiative during the five hour visit. Abdullah's initiative, already carrying the Arab world's seal of approval from the Arab League summit last month, gave him license to speak for the Arabs and press their demands upon Israel's champion, the U.S..

and the confinement of Arafat in Ramallah. "There has been
some progress, but it's now time to quit it altogether. It's time
to end this. Well, we'll see what happens. I know they've heard
us," Bush said. He also made clear to the Arabs, "I
told the Crown Prince that we have a unique relationship with
Israel and that one thing that the world can count on is that
we will not allow Israel to be crushed," he said.
The White House Spokesman Ari Fleischer speaking last Friday said that the Saudi plan included many provisions that are in line with American thinking. Aside from the original proposals of 'normalization' of relations between Arab nations with Israel in exchange for Israel's withdrawal to pre-1967 borders the revised plan offers more specific details and outlines steps to implementation. The Bush administration is considering the plan.
Whatever changes do occur in the Saudi plan to make it more appealing to Israel and the U.S. there is one element that has not changed and spells doom for Israel should she accept it as many on the Israeli left are encouraging to do. From God's point of view Israel is His wife. Their wedding covenant included the land that she now possesses. God requires Israel's total devotion, something that Israel has been far from stellar in. Israel can break her marriage covenant with God by committing adultery. This can come in various forms but always involves another party. Israel has committed adultery many times in her long history. Every time it has been with false gods and/or pagan nations. Each time she flagrantly disobeyed God's laws and each time God punished her unfaithfulness with invasions, exile, plagues, drought and famine. Each time there was a remnant that repented and turned back to the LORD in humility and submission and each time God took back Israel and forgave her. Yet in all of her history Israel has never compromised her land to anyone without a fight. This is just what her enemies are asking her to do now and they along with the rest of the world are working hard to persuade America that this is the best course of action. America is considering the plan.
In the past Israel has prostituted herself with false gods and other nations. She has paid dearly for these trespasses, most of her people are still dispersed around the world. But never has Israel considered the covenant lands as something to be bartered. The Bible is clear, Israel will do such a thing and again God will send her away for one last time. And just as clearly, when the smoke clears and the LORD reigns from Zion, a remnant will be gathered to their savior.
Those Jews who are eagerly waiting for their Messiah like those Gentiles who know Jesus as their Messiah will be richly rewarded for their obedience to His throne. If your allegiance to the throne of Jesus Christ is not evident by the way you walk through your life then I humbly beg you to kneel and humbly submit to the King of kings and LORD of lords. Seek His forgiveness and be found obedient to His kingdom before it is too late! Then you will stand on that day when all of mankind looks heavenward and not mourn but rejoice. Those that belong to Him will be saved from His wrath while the rest of the earth will be subjected to it.
