Israel's Deputy Defense Minister Dalia Rabin-Pelosoff echoed sentiments found in Israel's government after they agreed to allow the UN to send a fact-finding team to Jenin, "The time has come for the world to acknowledge that there was no massacre in Jenin. Instead it was a war, which produced all the painful results of war." The team's purpose is to look over events that took place in the West Bank Palestinian refugee camp during Israeli military incursions to quell terrorist attacks on her civilian population. The UN Security Council gave the team their authority when they passed resolution 1405 in an emergency session Friday night.
Israel, succumbing to American pressure to cooperate with the
UN, had originally refused but relented when their conditions
were backed by the U.S..
Israel is permitting only professional experts to enter the camp
but no political officials. They specified certain officials by
name: UN envoy to the Middle East Terje Roed-Larsen, UN Relief
and Works Agency director Peter Hansen, and UN High Commissioner
for Human Rights Mary Robinson. All three have been exceptionally
outspoken against Israel and more particularly against Israel's
military security incursions into Palestinian enclaves situated
in the West Bank.
The EU has threatened economic sanctions against Israel because of her incursions. The EU has picked up on the term massacre from the Palestinians and Arab nations in reference to the battle in Jenin. This language was introduced by the Arabs in their contribution to UN resolution 1405. Although the language was softened by America prior to acceptance this has not stopped Europe from using the harsh word despite the lack of evidence to support that a massacre actually took place.
The focus of the world is on a supposed massacre by Israeli troops against Palestinian non-combatants, something Israel vehemently denies. Has anyone asked about the huge stockpiles of weapons, munitions and weapons production facilities found in Jenin? Has anyone questioned the UN as to how Jenin could become an epicenter of terrorist activities against Israel while it and other refugee camps were under UN administration? That's right! For 30 years the Palestinian refugee camps, although considered Palestinian Authority jurisdictions, have been under administration by UN humanitarian agencies. These agencies are presently headed by the three officials denied access to Jenin by Israel. As the UN looked after the Palestinian people they looked the other way as the Palestinians built their camps into militant operation centers from which to carry out terror attacks against Israel!
The United Nations track record of admitting wrongs and failures is dismal at best so don't expect great enlightenment to come from an establishment whose leader, Kofi Annan, says, "I don't think the whole world, including the friends of the Israeli people and government, can be wrong."
When the UN finishes its mission to Jenin they will discover that Israel did just what she said she did, her soldiers killed armed Palestinians who shot at them. Israel says 100-150 militants were killed, the world although having not been there is sticking with the Palestinian claim of a 500+ massacre. When all the facts are in don't rely on the media to disseminate accurate details.
The world wants to believe that there was a massacre in Jenin. The overwhelming bias by the media in favor of the Palestinians is by design. A massacre, real or fabricated, is an excuse to send the armed forces Kofi Annan is urgently requesting into Israel to create a buffer between the two peoples. There are many agents of Satan working hard to fix borders for a Palestinian state both politically and militarily. Some of these agents are Jews. Satan is very close to putting Israel into checkmate and forcing her to give up land for peace, thus forsaking God's covenant. We can almost see Satan now as he plots the final steps to his enthronement on Mount Zion. Today the West Bank, tomorrow all of Israel and the world! Although Satan won't be stopped it will be short lived. Come LORD Jesus and cast down this usurper of your rightful throne!
