IRAQ WINNING THE WAR IN ISRAEL

By Randy Loudenslager

In his efforts at self-preservation Saddam Hussein has shown his genius at warding off what many see as the inevitable blow by the U.S. military. Secretly allied with Iran and Syria he is waging war against Israel through the Palestinians in order to disable the American attempt to oust him. The United States has made it clear that the policy of the Bush government is the ouster of Saddam Hussein from power. America needs broad based support from Arab nations before any attacks can be carried out against Iraq. Hussein understands this and has stepped up his support for the Palestinians. If it appears that America is pro-Israel and biased against the Palestinians then Arab support of American action against Iraq will not be forth coming.

It serves Hussein's interests to fuel the Palestinian Intifada. By doing so he forces America's pro-Israel sentiments to the surface and thus solidifies Arab resistance to an attack on Iraq. If America chooses an unbiased approach to the conflict, as they are now doing, it will be to the detriment of Israel. In either case the appearance is that of a win-win situation for Saddam, the Palestinians and Islam.

Saddam has not waited for America to attack but has made the first series of attacks. He is scoring stunning victories against the U.S. and Israel. In only several months he has increased his payments to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers from $10,000 to $25,000 and now $30,000 and is sending tens of millions of dollars in economic relief to the Palestinians. These payments have rejuvenated Palestinian morale and have helped fuel a resurgence of suicide attacks that have left hundreds of Israelis dead and many times that maimed and wounded. The results have heated up the equation for Israel. It has forced Israel to either concede defeat or as she is now doing to defend herself by going on the military offensive. Such moves by Israel have infuriated the pro-Palestinian world and, more importantly to the U.S., the Arab nations. America subsequently, in choosing to pursue Saddam, has fallen in step with the rest of the world's condemnation of Israel's security measures in order to appease the Arabs.

Saddam has not stopped with only a few quick victories. He has hit America with an oil embargo broadside. He has shut off oil exports for one month in solidarity with the Palestinians. This would normally have been inconsequential because the other Arab nations would have gladly picked up the slack, but this time OPEC has announced that it would not increase production. In further action he has committed Iraqi airspace and airports to the transport of arms and equipment for the Iranian supported Hizbullah campaign from Lebanon against the Israeli north. The Hizbullah has opened up this second front in their opposition to any negotiations with Israel, they only recognize the Palestinian claim to all of the land of Israel. Syria has jointly committed her airspace and airports to Hizbullah support. Iran has been sending Revolutionary Guards through these channels to train Hizbullah units.

Hussein's publicity campaign barrages have thwarted those of the American super-power. He is being heralded as a hero of Islam and has even gained considerable respect among moderate Arab states because of his willingness to back up his words with action and the projection of himself as a patron of the Palestinian people. With only Israel and Great Britain supporting America's bid against Iraq, and the latter only tenuously, America has launched a counter publicity campaign by sending Colin Powell to bully Israel and meet with the besieged Yassar Arafat. This campaign has momentarily renewed the world's confidence in America as chief mediator of peace in the Middle East.

After Operation Desert Storm would anybody have imagined the level of support Saddam Hussein now enjoys among the nations? By tying his fortunes to that of the Palestinians through words and actions Hussein has not only thwarted an American attack for the present but may actually have gained the goodwill necessary to throw off the shackles of the UN economic sanctions that many countries are calling for removal of.

Saddam Hussein is doing what no one else in the Arab world could do, he is liquidating Israel's relationship with the U.S. by using America's desires and the world's pro-Palestinian sentiments against her. Israel's best friend is forcing her to break her covenant with God! From this point on America's domination in international politics will begin to wane. As it becomes clearer to the world that the U.S. can be out maneuvered by a third world dictator and forced to compromise her relationship with Israel the world will loose its respect for America. Many have spoken out against America but only to deaf ears. As long as she stood for what was right there is little anyone could do against her, but now her actions betray a nation that is no longer as principled or as unified as she once was. America's response to 9-11 unified the world against the injustice of murderous terrorism. America's decision to use the coalition against terrorism for her own purposes and subsequent actions against God's covenant have only served the powers of darkness and the spirit of the antichrist whom now the world cleaves to.

To act against God's covenant, no matter how good the intentions, is to openly declare one's rebellion against His kingdom. That covenant means prosperity for Israel and all who support her, first for the Jew and then also for the Gentile. Action against that covenant means desolation (tribulation), first for the Jew and then in the end for the Gentile.
