WHAT'S NEXT?

I wrote yesterday that the next several days will define Sharon's future as Prime Minister of Israel. Today, in agreement with his security cabinet, Sharon has declared that military pressure will be maintained on Arafat and the Palestinian Authority. The war of attrition continues. Even moderates are calling for Sharon to allow the Israeli Defense Forces greater freedom in dealing with the Palestinians. Sharon has answered with tough talk in the media but has done surprisingly little for a man the rightists in Israel held up as the champion of their cause.
Does something appear odd about this present scenario? It is always an odd picture to see a tail wagging a dog. And we are witnessing the same as the nonexistent might of the Palestinians has mighty Israel reacting to its every move. Israel's military is suffering from extremely low morale. They are being bitten repeatedly on the heal by the serpent and yet they are restrained from raising their foot to strike the serpent's head.
To put things in proper perspective one only has to look at the fact that Israel is capable of reoccupying all Palestinian areas of control and put down all resistance within several days and at the expense of only a few casualties. What is stopping them? The answer is found with the left leaning members of government. They are Israel's future. The Bible prophesies about these leaders and how they will act against the covenant. These anti-covenant types make deals with Israel's enemies even as Israel is attacked by these enemies. They beckon for all to listen to Europe's enlightened leaders who preach peace and safety as they cast a blind eye towards the indiscriminate killing of women and children by Israel's enemies.
In the end these peace sayers will be richly rewarded by the new world order. They will be considered heroes and will be lauded for their extreme sacrifices at the negotiating table. That is how evil works, it appears to be working for what is good and noble and true, but in the end only these politicians reap the reward while their constituents bear the price of the sacrifice, their homes, their lands and their lives.
