HE WHO STANDS FOR NOTHING FALLS FOR EVERYTHING

By Randy Loudenslager

The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the LORD; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered. Listen! The report is coming - a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals. Jeremiah 10:21-22

Back in May of this year the LORD had me prophetically warn you that the religious Jews would be isolated within the Israeli government, that they would be betrayed by those they thought were on their side (see http://www.lastday.info/watchv2i83.html). Sadly this prophecy has begun to come to pass. The formerly conservative right-wing Likud party has realigned itself to the center. This was not done with the consent of the voter but in closed deals and committee meetings.

The Likud party is expected to capture as many as 35-40 seats in the Knesset in the upcoming elections for Prime Minister over their rivals the left-wing Labor party. As is the custom in Israeli politics, the party chiefs and committees decide ahead of time who will fill those posts in the Knesset to represent their party. The top thirty openings are the most coveted by party members as these positions are the most likely to be filled. It is here that the prophecy was fulfilled. Not a single religious representative was selected for the top thirty! One third of the Likud party membership is considered religious and yet they were left out of any future government that may be formed and run by Ariel Sharon's Likud party. The religious Jew no longer has a voice in the Likud party as the Likud redefines its image to appear more like a small army of Colin Powell clones following the Pied Piper Bush on the road-map for peace in the Middle East (and rebellion against the covenant).

I have also warned in the past that Sharon would change his position and work FOR the establishment of a Palestinian state rather than against it. Now Sharon not only voices his support for such a state publicly but he actually made it part of his platform in the Likud primary elections!

With Israel's two major political parties now in support of a Palestinian state who will stand in the gap in Israeli politics to hold Israel back from rebelling against God's covenant and the scorning of their inheritance? The tiny but very active and vocal religious parties.

Minister Effi Eitam, head of the National Religious Party, Israel's largest religious party, asked the religious third of the Likud party a pointed question via the media, "I ask you," said Eitam, "are you suckers? I ask you, are you really not good enough... to be elected? Who will represent you there [in the Likud] tomorrow morning? Your values, your education, the Jewish state you dream of?" He went further and called on the religious members of the Likud to come over to the National Religious Party. The other religious parties made similar pleas.

This is it folks, the tiny religious parties are all that is left of Israel's faith and the only guard against her self-destruction! We, as believers, know who and what we need to pray for.

Ariel Sharon will win the election for prime minister. He will win because he is sly like a fox and will forge political alliances that have been the hallmark of his political career. He has been known to compromise with the left and will do so again. When the religious parties ally themselves in a concerted push to stop a Palestinian state from happening they will be undermined by Sharon's deals with the Labor party and in one fell swoop they will be isolated and powerless to stop the madness of Israel's rebellion.

"The idols speak deceit, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd. My anger burns against the shepherds, I will punish the leaders; for the LORD Almighty will care for his flock, the house of Judah, and make them like a proud horse in battle." Zechariah 10:2-3
