13What Will We Do With IRAQ?
Here is the situation. The United States wants to attack Iraq for allegedly harboring and supporting terrorists. Russia says that there is no substantiated proof and so is 'vehemently' against any attacks on Iraq. Iraq maintains it's innocence of events that transpired on 9-11. The U.S. changed it's focus to mandatory weapons of mass destruction (WMD) inspections to be resumed in Iraq. If Iraq won't comply then the U.S. has suggested no recourse but to attack. Russia maintains that Iraq's sovereignty is being violated. The anti-terror coalition isn't convinced.
Now Iraq is making secret overtures towards the United States. Apparently Saddam Hussein, like his ancient predecessor King Belshazzar of Babylon, has seen the writing on the wall. Unlike Belshazzar, Saddam is acting to preserve his rule over Iraq. Saddam is calling for an emergency summit of Arab nations and attempting to heal the rifts between Saudi Arabia and Iraq caused by his invasion of Kuwait.Saddam a peace maker? He is apparently even trying to cut a deal with the U.S.
What kind of deal? Iraqi military brass has suggested that ousting Saddam would destabilize the Mideast. That the moderate Arab nations of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt would be subject to take over by radical Muslim elements. Iraq is prepared to cooperate on the hand over of terrorist intelligence. And Iraq is willing to allow Russian only inspection of WMD development.
These are shrewd moves by Saddam Hussein. I have said in past newsletters and WATCH Alerts that Saddam needs to be watched very closely. Having read some of his translated speeches, I can assure you that he is a very intelligent man. His ability to think abstractly is quite impressive. And this makes him quite dangerous. Israel would love to see the earth rid of Saddam and so would the Bush clan, but this desert fox has the backing of Russia and in one fell swoop may have united his destiny with that of Russia. We have seen Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Libya, Sudan and other Muslim enemies of Israel primarily supplied with Russian military hardware, training and WMD development. It will be predominately Russian tanks, helicopters, aircraft, missiles and warships that will sweep over Israel in the last days. Watch these signs and become familiar with the nations and peoples spoken of through the prophet Ezekiel in chapter 38 and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
